In Iran, when a guest was expected, the house would come alive with quiet excitement. We had a special room just for visitors—the sunniest in the house, with sheer lace curtains, comfortable sofa and chairs, and a coffee table set with seasonal fruits, sweets, and tea. This was our way of welcoming people with love, beauty, and warmth. When I started CERI, I rented the second floor of a Victorian house—affordable and full of charm. With the help of friends, we furnished it simply but beautifully, painted the walls in warm colors, and made sure there was always tea, coffee, cookies, and fruit. After every support group meeting, we shared a meal of homemade foods lovingly prepared by group members.
