CERI was honored by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors!

“When CERI was founded, it was founded with 100 refugees - survivors of the Khmer Rouge genocide - who were stranded in very impoverished neighborhoods of Oakland. I remember trying to get funding and calling different foundations. One of them said, ‘This is such a lost cause. You’ll never be able to really keep this going.’”

18 years later, we’re still here and we were just recognized by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors this week! CERI was honored for our community leadership as part of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage month. We want to thank Supervisor Lena Tam who led this effort along with Nikki Fortunato Bas who has been a longtime supporter of our work. 

It feels good for our communities and our work to be seen and heard at this time - yet another time in history where some might say we are a lost cause. We didn’t let that stop us before and we won’t let that stop us now.

Help us sustain and strengthen the next 18 years of community mental health with and for refugees and immigrants! So far this month we’ve raised $2,070 with the generosity of five amazing donors.
