Alameda County Board of Supervisors Recognition
CERI was recognized by Alameda County’s Board of Supervisors for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May 2025, for CERI’s legacy of leadership and resilience working with refugees and immigrants in the County.
County of Santa Clara BOS Commendation & California Legislature Assembly Certificate of Recognition
In April 2026, CERI was recognized by the Board of Supervisors in Santa Clara County for participation in the Cambodian flag-raising ceremony and work to support the Cambodian community in the County. CERI was also honored by a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Community Service by Honorable Ash Kalra, an elected representative for the City of San Jose in the California State Legislature.
City of Richmond & Congressional Commendation to Mona Afary
CERI was recognized by the City of Richmond for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May 2025, for outstanding and dedicated service. Mona Afary, CERI’s Executive Director, was also recognized by California's 8th Congressional District for her commitment to the community demonstrated through CERI’s work.

UNA Global Citizen Award
CERI received the Global Citizen Award at the United Nations Association East Bay Chapter Celebration in October 2025, themed: “Beyond Borders: Uplifting and Protecting Immigrants and Refugees.” We were recognized alongside Senator Alex Padilla, ACLU Northern California, Alameda Health System Refugee Clinic, and Soccer Without Borders.
City of Oakland Mayor Proclamation in Recognition of Sophal Yin
For her lasting impact in the City of Oakland, CERI’s amazing Outreach Worker and Activity Coordinator, Sophal Yin, was recognized by the City of Oakland’s Mayor Proclamation for her work serving the Cambodian population throughout Alameda County since 2017 with genuine compassion and leadership skills, creating a space in which all our elders who are the survivors of the Khmer Rouge genocide feel loved, cared for, and empowered.
